Paul Wasicka: The 'Kwickfish' from Las Vegas
Paul Wasicka, is a skilled poker player. He was born on February 17, 1981in Dallas, Texas. He is currently residing in Westminster, Colorado. Paul took second placed in the main event at the 2006 Poker World Series behind eventual champion Jamie Gold. He took home $6,000,000. Paul also won the championship of the 2007 NBC National Championship.
Wasicka began playing competitive poker in 2003 when he engaged in some illegal poker tournament in Denver, Colorado. Paul was a bartender and worked his way to becoming a restaurant manager before shifting his interest to poker.
After his runner-up finished at the WSOP, Paul appeared in several major poker tournaments and won some of them which include: capturing the 2007 National One-On-One Poker Championship hosted by NBC. He did it by beating in succession Eli Elezra, Joe Hachem, T.J. Cloutier, Nam Le, and Shannon Elizabeth. He defeated Chad Brown 2-0 in their heads-up play. For the effort he earned $500,000. Paul also finished fourth at the World Poker Tour LA Poker Classic Hosted by Commerce Casino. He won $455,615.
Paul Wasicka also made his presence felt at the World poker Tour by winning several events. At the LA Poker Classics in 2007 he took home $9,900 in the No Limit Texas Hold'em. Paul also finished fourth at the final table and got $455,615. Paul has also earned cash in three World Poker Tour Championship events and taking home more than $700,000.
Paul Wasicka also campaigned in Australia. In the 2007 main event of the A$10,000 Aussie Millions Championship, he almost made it to the final round by placing 12th thus earning him A$ 120,000 (US$95,434). Fellow American player Gus Hansen won the event.
As of 2008, Paul Wisicka's overall live tournament earnings exceed $7,500,000.
