Late Game Strategies for No Limit
The goal of every participant in a No Limit tournament is to make it to the later tables, because that is where the payouts come in, and one is closer to the final rounds. But how exactly does one play once at the late phase?
A lot of players know how to play the early able; that is, by being tight. When they reach the later tables, a lot of them still adhere to the same No Limit strategies, which is incorrect.
The fact is that at these late tables, one should be more willing to take risks, as the blinds are bigger, and worth playing for. However, as you fight for the blinds, you should be prepared for the possibility of your stack of chips dwindling down.
What this means is that your No Limit strategy should include the possibility that you must go all in when you have the best hand. This can happen when your chip stack goes down to such an extent that you have just enough for one more big raise. Of course, you will do that only when you have the premium hand.
If you want to make an attempt at stealing the No Limit blinds, you will have to consider several things. The first is that you can try it with a hand with some value, like a middle pair, your No Limit strategy being to try and get the set.
However, as the blinds become substantial in the latter stages of the No Limit tournament, you should try it with bigger hands, and your position (the later the better) has to be considered. Of course, the Poker playing style of the individuals playing you will be an important factor to consider. Here, your image as a tight player will be an immense help.
When it comes to defending your No Limit blinds, you may have no option but to go all in or with big raises, but if you have the high hands, then you should feel confident about approaching it in an aggressive manner. If you do not have enough for a decent raise, then you should go all in when you are in the big blind.
The late tables in a No Limit tournament are the ones in which your true skill as a Poker player will come out. By playing it right and courageously at the end game, the likelihood of you coming out on top will definitely be enhanced.
